Beginners WoW Cooking Guide – Learn the Ropes and Master the Profession

This WoW Cooking guide will be discussing the basics of cooking that every WoW player will need to know in order to level up successfully. While cooking may not be one of the most exciting professions in WoW it does have some great benefits that every player and all classes can gain from. Cooking is also a great profession to have if your player is one that does not heal automatically or for any player who solos. Cooking can also be used to make gold, can be used in conjunction with other professions such as fishing, and can be used to heal other player who’ve been damaged so they can continue to fight. Cooking is a secondary profession that is not required so it will be up to you if you want to use it or not. In my personal recommendation it should be highly considered especially since it can be used to generate gold. It’s always good to have multiple ways to earn gold.

Cooking Guide
In order to cook you will first need to learn how to. Cooking is learned from trainers found throughout Azeroth often found in the Towns. All you will need to do is ask one of the guards where to locate one of the trainers. When you find a trainer you will first start as an Apprentice Cook. You will want to make it your goal to learn all of the recipes that you can at the Apprentice level. Then you will be able to start buying different recipes from the many different vendors. During your travels you are going to gather many different meats. As a cook you will be able to cook these meats to make food. So instead of selling these items immediately you will be able to use them as they will be much more effective than buying food from vendors.

Cooking requires three things: A recipe, the Ingredients, and a cooking fire. You can either create a cooking fire yourself (campfire) or you can use a Stove, Brazier or Fireplace. In the present version of WoW a camp fire can be constructed anywhere and doesn’t require any materials in order to make it. In previous versions it was required that you first had Flint, Tinder, and Simple wood in order to make a camp fire. Since this has been removed constructing a camp fire is extremely easy – Just open your spell book, select basic camp fire and you’re all set. Cooking recipes is also a simple task. All you have to do to cook is choose a recipe, it’s ingredients and you will begin to cook that recipe. Keep in mind also that certain recipes are going to require that their ingredients be purchased so make Sure you always have your recipe ingredients on hand before cooking.

Leveling Up

In the cooking profession WoW has 6 different levels that you can achieve. The lower numbers being the lower levels and higher numbers being the high levels. Here are the following levels that can be attained:

Level 1: Apprentice (1-75)
Level 2: Journeyman (75-150)
Level 3: Expert (150-200)
Level 4: Artisan (200-300)
Level 5: Master (300-375)
Level 6: Grand Master (375+)

Leveling up your cooking skills can be tedious and the only way to do it is to create more difficult recipes. Some recipes however won’t give you any benefit when you make them. As you level up the skill points that you receive per item that you make will also start to decrese which demands that you make more and more items. In order to determine whether or not you will be gaining xp from the items that you make there is a color code chart that will indicate whether an item will benefit you or not.

Here is the list of codes that you should be aware of before cooking to gain Xp:

Red: Cannot cook yet. Skill level is too high for you.
Orange: A cooking point will be received by cooking orange colored items.
Yellow: It’s likely that a skill point will be earned.
Green: Unlikely to earn a skill point.
Gray: No skill point awarded. When you have achieved sufficient skill points to advance to the next level you will first need to visit a cooking trainer. A cooking trainer will be able to get you to the next level and you will also need to pay the trainer as well.

Journeyman:

Journeyman level is achieved by reaching level 75. Once you reached 75 talk to your trainer and pay him 5 silver to train as a Journeyman.

Expert:

To advance to the Expert skill level you will need at least 125 cooking points and will need to pay the trainer 95 Silver.

Artisan:

Artisan level is achieved by attaining levels 225 In order to get to the Artisan Cooking Level, you will need to be taught by a trainer, once you reach skill 200, for 2 Gold and 25 Silver.

Master:

Master level cooking is achieved by reaching level 200 and paying your trainer 9 gold and 50 silver. In order to train as a Master you will need the Burning Crusade Expansion pack.

Grand Master:

To train as a Grand Master you will first need the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion and be at level 375. Once you’ve reached level 375 you will need to go to Northrend and pay your trainer 33 silver and 25 gold.

While leveling up your cooking skill in wow is often really boring there is one sure way to make sure that you level up as fast as you can. There are a lot of guides on the internet and people giving their own suggestions, but the one guide that will teach you how to level up like a pro is called the Ultimate World of Warcraft Guide. This guide is totally 100% in game and based upon your own characters specifications will help you to navigate azerorth and level up in the fastest way for your specific character. Where it takes people months to level up it will only take you Days. So as a personal recommendation I would highly advise the use of the Ultimate World of Warcraft guide for all of your needs.
