Snapper offshore rig in southern Florida?
I intend to go out on a charter boat in August and I counted Haulover put my own spinning rod mess around with the rod along they give me. I'm planning on fishing for big snapper, such as sheep, and I intended on using my rod with 7 ft. 20 pounds mono tied to a swivel 150 pounds and a couple of feet of fluorocarbon leader tied a hook 8 / 0. For bait, I'm mostly going to use all the dead sardines Spain, with the tail cut off. I could also use some of the expenses row that the master supplies. Now, my question is, how heavy should be the leader? Many people say 50 snapper, but some people have said up a bit heavier because I could connect a grouper. In addition, fishing from 60-150 feet of water and perhaps even more, how heavy should be my deck? I heard that 1 oz to 6 oz heavier, but im not Sure.
1. You can use 20LB Mono, but you should consider using Braid. A correct diameter Braid 14lbs (with a breaking strength of 50 pounds Mono) you will use less weight to reach the bottom, be more "stealthy" no Stretch "so that your fixed are stronger, and you'll be able to feel all the light" bite "better quality.
