Bamboo Fly Rod??
I have an old south bend Fly Rod! My great-uncle gave it to me, so that his old u can give me a fork Wat price value?? I think it may be about $ 600! I have a case and a bamboo flyrod of hte 50's and 60's
Mike F has a point. Flyrods The only South Bend bamboo really arouse the interest of a collector is the model 290 and 291's. Both were 7'6 ". Other models such as the following # 's: 46, 58, 59, 346, 358, 359 were generally 7-8 weight rods 9 'configurations course, with the former, condition means everything. A good, sound model 290 or 291, complete in VG + condition you may get $ 400 (e-bay), less when you sell any of the stem to a collector or put up for shipment. A good model of its May 59 lead 150 $. The reason is South Bend rods were mass-produced (think ugly-stick) and there are many of them there, even today. Look at the rod. The wraps intact? Was re-wrapped guides? Sections are the same legnth? Many times you find the point of the article more short due to a break. Is the condition of the varnish (no cracks or peeling)? What about the cap – is it chewed? Is the sticker is on the stem? Do you cloth bag and original case? These are all the question of a collector you ask to determine a value for the stem. The more negative, the lower the rod has.
